For more than 30 years, Michigan has managed the state’s wetlands permitting program under delegated authority from the Environmental Protection Agency. However, following a recent program review by EPA, local oversight and management of the state’s permitting program through the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality’s is in jeopardy of being revoked.
