A major ruckus erupted outside a cinema hall in Chennai after fans of superstars Ajith Kumar and Vijay indulged in a fight and tore posters of 'Thunivu' and 'Varisu' as both the films clashed with each other at the box office. The so- called rivals clashed at the box office after 9 years as 'Varisu' and 'Thunivu' released together in theatres on January 11 for the occasion of Pongal.

Video from outside a cinema hall in Chennai showed people scaling the hoardings and tearing the posters of the films. Some of them even tried to set the poster ablaze. Similar situation was witnessed at other locations as well where police even had to lathi-charge at Vijay-Ajith fans.
