President William Ruto has defended plans to lease Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to the India-based Adani group, amid controversy surrounding the 30-year concession agreement. Ruto argues that the renovations and expansion will increase Kenya's capacity to attract five million tourists by 2027. This is the first time the president has addressed the issue, which he considers a priority despite opposition from Kenya Airports Authority workers and integrity concerns.
