Reverse culture shock...I know what you are thinking… “Is this a thing?”. Yep, it is!
I immigrated to America in 2007…so if you do a quick calculation that's 15 years as of this year! Yep...I’ve lived here for 15 years. Over my past trips back to my beautiful homeland in Kenya, East Africa…I’ve had reverse culture shock. It’s a shocker because you don’t realize how much assimilation and adjustment into the American culture you have undergone…until you travel back home.
I also talk about the controversial ACCENT TOPIC (sorry for caps guys, need to emphasize and I can't put italics on here lol)...
Bottom line- As a Diaspora African/Kenyan…it’s rather tough because you are neither here nor there. Which place can you possibly call home? You are truly a nomad of sorts.
