Quick tour of the astonishing Earthquake Park in Anchorage, Alaska! There was a 9.2 earthquake on Friday, March 27, 1964. The epicenter was 80 miles west of Anchorage. 100,000 sq. miles of Earth was vertically and horizontally displaced. The Good Friday Earthquake lasted over 4 minutes.
On 4th Avenue in Downtown Anchorage, commercial buildings and pavement dropped as much as 15 feet! There were 55 aftershocks with some measuring up to 5.0 magnitude on the Richter scale. Only 9 people died following this huge earthquake.
