Jessica, a committed woman, a new shahidah, has long since been in search of her Lord, and of her deen, in midst of the distractions and the callings of her dunya. “Ours is the Struggle”, is a story of a convert; the most important decision that Jessica Welding has ever made. As she embraces the patterns of her new lifestyle, she has also to confront the disapproval from all those around her; the unsupportive reactions from her partner in life, Eric Welding, who she must leave after converting to Islam unless he finds guidance and peace by walking the same path as Jessica.
“Ours is the struggle” is based on a true story, one that is found relatable to the struggles of most converts. Struggles that Jessica faces with acceptance in her community, and dealing with loneliness, all without the support of the most important people in her personal life.
