A year has passed by since the fraud case of Punjab & Maharashtra Co-operative Bank came to light. Post which the RBI had to administer limits to withdrawals as well as put restrictions on the bank.
However, no respite has been provided to thousands of depositors even after a year. A number of people gathered in front of the RBI in Mumbai to protest for the same. Back in June, the RBI increased the withdrawal limit to 1 lakh, which they claimed allowed most of the depositors to withdraw the entire amount. But the depositors claim otherwise.
The protestors claim that no matter what the amount, only 1 lakh was allowed to withdraw and now they want their entire money back.
