Dr. Mark Humayun, co-director of the USC Roski Eye Institute, was interviewed on KABC-TV Channel 7 Eyewitness News about receiving the National Medal on Technology & Innovation from President Obama at a White House ceremony. Dr. Humayun was honored for his creation of the Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System (also known as the bionic eye) – a breakthrough in ophthalmology and engineering that allows those with Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) who have been blind for years to start to see again.
