There are many ways to make trim bands. I like to use them on my spinning guides. When I do a spinning guide, I make an underwrap that contains my trim bands or other designs, and then use an overwrap to actually attach the guide. In this example (the video is different because I can't count correctly) my trim bands are 6 wraps each. In the video I had one with 7 wraps, another 5 and yet another 6. This all was cut off and redone as I had also measured wrong and the guide was not going to fit correctly.
I also apologize for the audio. I use an external mic for the audio but for some unknown reason the internal mic was used.
