PenBBS makes fountain pens and ships them from Shanghai, China. They have been around since 2005 and sell from their official Etsy store.
In my opinion their fountain pens provide a top level of quality at very affordable/decent prices. In steam terms, their reviews are “overwhelmingly positive” on Etsy. At this time they have made more than 31000 sales and hold a five star store rating on Etsy.
In order, the pens I examined today include:
PenBBS 352 - milky white, acrylic, round extra fine nib, lamy turquoise ink. $30 NZD.
PenBBS 308 - tiny happiness (koi carp), acrylic, round medium nib, Pilot murasaki shikibu ink. $40 NZD.
PenBBS 456 - vermouth green demonstrator, vacuum filler, duocolour fine nib, lamy black ink. $60 NZD.
PenBBS 355 - galaxy, bulk filler (improved version), round medium nib, lamy blue black ink. $60 NZD.
PenBBS Marshmallow 322 - clear demonstrator, in mini fude nib and extra fine nib, lamy black ink. $12 NZD.
PenBBS 350 - autumn wind, aluminium alloy, fine nib, not inked. $35 NZD.
PenBBS 268 - clear demonstrator, vacuum filler, fine nib, not inked. $30 NZD.
These pens write with impeccable consistency, and I have not needed to tune any of the nibs, they all write well out of the box.
In more recent times they are starting to introduce gold nib fountain pens, and I look forward to them perhaps introducing new vacuum or bulk filler models with these gold nibs.
My overall impression with PenBBS is that they have established themselves as a small but top tier fountain pen manufacturer amongst Chinese brands, and I hope they keep expanding and improving their pens.
