Corroboree Billabong Wetland Cruises - Almost every dry season, we are blessed with the arrival of young Black Neck Storks growing up along the banks of the billabong. Traditionally known in the Top End of Australia as Jabirus, these beautiful long legged birds remain with their parents for the first year or so, feeding on fish, eels, crustaceans and even small turtles. At a young age, the colour of their plumage is mainly brown, black and cream. As they mature, their plumage changes colour, their neck feathers becoming a stunning iridescent blue, green, purple and their body feathers turning deep black and pure white. Their tall red legs are a distinctive feature and what most people think are their knees are in fact their ankles.
