Emperors have ruled over China for millennia, and there is much to be learned from the great emperors of China. The Chinese emperor, known as the Son of Heaven, had the Mandate of Heaven or absolute authority to rule over all people, but such power came with governing duties, moral obligations, and the expectation to preserve traditional values and promote the best interest of his people instead of his own. If an emperor failed to fulfill his duty and the Mandate of Heaven, his dynasty would come to an end. These days, Chinese people are unhappy with the communist “red emperor,” whose harsh treatment of people is nowhere near the virtuous rule of past emperors in China.
