Here's a really special film. Back in 1973 trains were just beginning to run at the preserved GCR. This film takes us back to the pioneering spirit as early volunteers got the services running.
Filmed by Hugh Sykes, this film has been restored and a new (recreated) sound track provided. Look out for shunting carriages by hand - and the unusual way of working at Quorn and Woodhouse without a run round loop for the loco to move from one end of the train to another.
Those early services even needed stock from Norwegian State Railways!
