Itosu Anko was one of the most important ambassadors for Karate, yet we hardly know anything about his appearance!
So today I'll try and shed some light into what he did actually look like!
I'll be referencing Andreas Quast's article “Does the photo of Itosu Ankō show a different person?” and the great Itosu biography by Thomas Feldmann “Anko Itosu, The Man. The Master. The Myth.”
