To those who recently upgraded their ZenFone 2 Laser ZE550KL to Android M and wants to go back to Android Lollipop 5.0 for some reasons, here's how you do it.

*PERFORM COMPLETE BACKUP (APPS/CONTACTS etc.)
*THE FILES PROVIDED BELOW ARE FOR ZE550KL WW SKU ONLY

NEW METHODS:
*Disregard the steps on the video.


FIRST METHOD - NO PC REQUIRED
1.1

1. Download older firmware version 1.12.40.349.:

2. Place the firmware to root of your SD card.
3. Reboot to recovery and select "Apply update from SD card"
4. Wipe data/factory reset your phone. This is required.
5. Reboot done. You can update to higher lollipop version if you want.

1.2 Without SD Card.

1. Download 1.12.40.349(from above) and rename it to UL-Z00L-WW-21.40.1220.1798-user.zip
2. Restart, phone will detect new version of firmware.
3. Tap to install.
4. Wipe data/factory reset your phone.
5. Reboot.


SECOND METHOD - PC REQUIRED (Can also be used if you want to revert to Stock ROM from CM13)

1. Download and Install required PC drivers.:

2 Download firmware V1.17.40.1531 WW.

3.Download ZenFone 2 Laser ZE550KL downgrade tool - Disregard the instructions included in the tool.:

4. Copy downloaded firmware to root of SD card.
5. Double Click "Recovery Script" from recovery tool folder and Enable USB debugging on your phone. Connect your phone to PC.
6. Enter #1, to check if your device is recognized by the adb tool.
7. Enter #4, this will reboot your phone to bootloader mode.
8. Enter #2, this will verify is your phone is recognized in fastboot mode.
9. Enter #3, to flash the stock recovery of your phone.
10. Press and Hold Volume down and Enter #7 to reboot in stock recovery. If you're unable to boot in recovery, you need to do it manually by powering off your device, press and hold power + volume down.
11. In recovery menu select "Apply update from SDcard" and select the firmware file that you've downloaded earlier. Do a Wipe data/factory reset first if you're unable to flash the firmware
12. Do Wipe data/factory reset after flashing. This is mandatory.
13. Reboot from phone recovery. Done.
