We will see traditional Dhow boats in Qatar in this video. Though historians disagree over who invented the dhow—basically, teak planks sewed together—it is generally accepted that either Arabs or Indians were responsible. They are still used to transport products along the shores of East Africa, Arabia, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh. Originally, they were fishing, pearling, or commerce ships.
Dhows today may include contemporary facilities to draw visitors and the curious. It would be lovely for you to experience traditional Qatari hospitality and authentic Arab cuisine over a BBQ supper.
