The lesson begins with the shape itself, but before we can play the shape, we need to figure out which fingers to use. I illustrate this on the screen from your perspective.
To make the shape, our middle finger plays the 2nd fret of the A string, our ring goes on the 2nd fret of G, and our pinky on the 2nd fret of the high E string. It's important to mute the low E string with the tip of your middle finger, resting it under the thickest string.
Once we're comfortable with the shape itself, we can add it to a chord progression. I've chosen a progression in D major that, in this context, makes Bm the vi chord, which is a very dark and sad sound. We need to pay attention to the chord that comes before this easy B minor and the chord that comes after it because those are the two switches we're going to need to make. We break it all down we practice the switches and then we put our chord progression together.
At this point you're able to play that easy B minor chord, but I also have a song suggestion: "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak. In that song, you'll find B minor after an E and before an A chord. That means we need to switch from E to B minor and from B minor to A - illustrating what we practiced earlier in the lesson.
