THIS INSTALLMENT: Robert Aldrich's polarizing adaptation of Mickey Spillane's lurid Mike Hammer potboiler was overlooked in its day and made infamous by an accidental "false" alternate ending. Now restored and widely accessible, it's one of the most unique films in its genre and a cult-classic for hard-boiled detective fans.
