Gov. Maura Healey has appointed the state's first chief safety officer for the Department of Transportation, Patrick Lavin. The governor also replaced three members of the MBTA's board of directors, after hearing from enraged riders at the latest meeting, with a slew of complaints for delays, limited service, and especially the slow zones still in place across much of the system. Brian Kane, executive director of the MBTA Advisory board and Mela Bush-Miles, head of the T Riders Union, joined Crystal Haynes to discuss the problems riders shared, and what the state is doing to fix them.
