Sandwip Island is a river island, which makes it distinctive and attractive. The island is 50 km long and 5–15 km wide and is located in the estuary of the Meghna river. The island can only be reached by speed boat or launch . A beach and numerous eateries providing fish, chicken, and vegetables are nearby.
It is located on the Bay of Bengal near the Meghna River Estuary, and Sandwip Channel divides it from the Chittagong coast. It is located close to the major port city of Chittagong on the northeastern shore of the Bay of Bengal. Companiganj, the Gulf of Bengal, Sitakunda and Mirsharai, the Sandwip Channel, Noakhali Sadar, Hatiya, and Meghna are its northern and southern neighbors, respectively.
