Sean from Stlbx Shipping Containers provides some quick tips on what to look for when buying a used shipping container.
The first thing to check is the doors. Do they open and close properly? Are the seals on the door in good shape? Does it close with ease and are there any obvious signs of leaking like rust or mould buildup?
Once you've scoped the doors, take a look at the floors and look for signs of leaking. Are the floors discoloured or sagging? Do they flex when you jump on them? A shipping container is designed to carry up to 60,000lbs so the floors shouldn't bend or flex when you jump up and down.
Look up! Is the ceiling caving in? Water that puddles or pools in the ceiling will reduce the lifespan of your shipping container so pay attention to areas where this could occur.
Lastly, close the doors while you are inside the container so it's really dark and start looking for light poking through the walls or ceiling. Any place where light shines through has the potential to leak.
We hope these quick shipping container buying tips help you buy your next used shipping container.
