When Allissa McPhail takes the stage during commencement ceremonies at Michigan State University (MSU), she will be capping off a college career that's allowed her to get her hands dirty. Literally. During McPhail's sophomore year, the dietetics major from Roscommon, Mich., decided that what she was learning in the classroom needed some supplementing. "I didn't feel like I was getting the whole story. I was missing a piece," McPhail said. "I just needed something more."That's when she decided to pursue a certificate in organic farming from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources' (CANR's) Institute of Agricultural Technology.
