When Governor Steve Sisolak missed the Carson City “Nevada Day” parade on Saturday, Republicans jumped on the opportunity to criticize him.

On Twitter, Team Lombardo, an account associated with Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo’s campaign, wrote “Steve Sisolak didn’t show up to Carson City today just like he’s failed to show up for Nevadans for the past four years.”

The annual event is seen as a celebration of Nevada’s statehood and entry into the Union. The governor, along with many other politicians and political candidates, typically take part.

The parade has leaned Republican as of late, with Democratic leaders reportedly drawing some boos from the crowd over the weekend.

However, Governor Sisolak confirmed his lack of attendance was not due to an abrasive constituency, but rather security concerns out of his control.
