Greetings! Today I want to share my favorite, alternative burger! This chicken burger is an excellent alternative to a beef burger. Sometimes you just want something different and this is it for me. I personally don't enjoy ground turkey all that much, so ground chicken is the way to go for me when I want to make a lighter alternative to a traditional burger.
This starts with ground chicken that I add my favorite chicken rub spice to and then some panko bread crumbs. You can add whatever bread crumbs you like, dry, fresh, whatever. But I do recommend that you do add the crumbs to help the burger stay together and absorb any excess moisture during the cooking process.
I cooked these on both sides in a hot iron skillet. When they were nicely browned, I popped them in a hot oven for about ten minutes just to ensure they were cooked all the way through. You never want to serve raw chicken.
I topped mine with some sliced white American cheese because that is what I had on hand after a long day of canning and some pickle chips. I love bread and butter pickles on a chicken burger along with some mayo, tomato and lettuce and you are good to go!
