President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has promoted Major General GEOFFREY ZYEELE to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed him as the new Zambia Army Commander.
Lieutenant General ZYEELE previously served as Deputy Army Commander.
Lieutenant General ZYEELE takes over from Zambia Army Commander, SITALI ALIBUZWI whose contract has not been renewed by the President.
The President swore in Lieutenant General ZYEELE at State House in Lusaka this afternoon.
At the same event, Brigadier General LUSWEPO SINYINZA was promoted to Major General and appointed as Deputy Army Commander and Chief of Staff.
President HICHILEMA urged the two senior army officers to serve the nation diligently and contribute to addressing the country's economic challenges through productive initiatives.
