According to UN World Youth Report 2018, close to 90% of global youth are living in developing countries, where they make up a large proportion of the total population. To facilitate idea-to-action transformation, it is imperative to focus on adequate communication and transparency in climate change education.
Against this background and on the occasion of International Youth Day 2021, the Environment Education and Awareness Area at TERI organized a webinar on 'Youth and the Decade Ahead: New Generation Ethos and Ideologies on Climate Action' for students in the age bracket of 15-25 years. Organized as a part of NDC enhancement project supported by Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), this webinar was a platform to spread awareness on climate change mitigation strategies and for the younger generation to voice their opinion on climate action. Mr Aditya Pundir, Director - India & South Asia, The Climate Project Foundation and Ms Neha Pahuja, Fellow, Earth Science and Climate Change, TERI facilitated technical talks on mitigation strategies and winners of 'All India Video Message Contest' were felicitated virtually. They were even made part of the youth panel discussion where the deliberated over role of youth in climate action.
