Conference "Architecture of Migration"
Speaker Sille Pihlak “Protocolling Prototypes or Prototyping Protocols”.
Sille Pihlak, architect and co-founder of PART, PhD fellow at EAA, based in Tallinn.
Redefining the production chain of architecture – from design to fabrication – based on computational understanding of modulation and material thinking makes it possible to move towards a more flexible and adaptable architecture. With particular collaborative workflow between architects, engineers, and fabricators, prototyping provokes apparent design implications in tectonics and space organization. This common platform and dynamic relationship between the digital design protocols and the physical prototypes, has brought back the potential for living materials (like timber) to re-enter the serious construction scene.
