Two badgers mate, right in front of the camera.
As is often the case, the process includes as a preliminary, the lifting of tails and rubbing bum-to-bum, whilst the boar throughout intermittently 'chatters'.
Here the boar seems a little confused at the start for he goes underground as she stares after him, perhaps wondering what she'd said! He re-emerges soon after, however. (Maybe he was in such a heightened state of excitement that he didn't know what to do with himself).
On the whole, it's not a particularly attractive spectacle but mating is clearly an important aspect of badger behaviour for without it, there would be no badgers.
