In Liuyang, China’s fireworks capital, a display combining fireworks and drones went viral on social media. Thousands of drones formed a glowing halo, with fireworks igniting one after another, resembling “shooting stars," falling out of the drone's depths.
The segment, titled “Tears of the Sky Gate,” was part of the 24th Liuyang Weekend Fireworks Show on Saturday, Dec. 7. It symbolized the bond between the living and the departed, with loved ones “returning” to the world through the “gate” with fireworks.
The designer drew inspiration from her grandfather, the founder of Qingtai Fireworks, who never had a photo with his mother.
China exports over 80% of the world’s fireworks, with Liuyang hailed as the largest production hub and innovator in the region.
