(3 Jun 2014) LITTLE MIX DEFEND ONE DIRECTION OVER DRUG ALLEGATIONS
Their fans may have been having second thoughts but One Direction can rely on British pop group Little Mix to stand up for them, after all the band's Perrie Edwards is engaged to Zayn Malik.
"It's not really our business, but at the end of the day, we're young, everyone's having fun," said Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall in reference to the video which British tabloid The Daily Mail released last Tuesday showing One Direction band members, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson smoking what the singers referred to as an "illegal substance."
"The thing is as long as you're yourself, and you don't call yourself a role model then it's fine," added the band's Jesy Nelson.
Edwards herself made no comment on the red carpet at the annual Women of the Year Awards hosted by Glamour Magazine on Tuesday (3 JUNE).
The star studded turn out included Samuel L Jackson, Naomi Campbell, Paloma Faith and Sharon Osbourne. The event was held in London's Berkeley Square Gardens.
Also in attendance were two stars from the forthcoming "Hunger Games" films, Natalie Dormer and Sam Claflin who attended with his wife, actress Laura Haddock.
Both Dormer and Claflin spoke about the recent troubles in Thailand and how protestors there had adopted the three finger salute from the film.
"Obviously what's going on over there, any repression of a government of its people is absolutely horrible and it's quiet incredible that they've chosen to latch on to that particular, that particular physical movement, but I mean anything that galvanizes people in a positive way to fight against oppression cannot be criticized in any way shape or form, " said Dormer, adding "If it's helping them, it can only be a positive."
"It's incredible to be a part of something that is so powerful and does speak to millions," noted Calflin.
Also in attendance was Taylor Schilling star of the Netflix series "Orange is the New Black."
The American actress said a new series of the hit show would start filming next week.
She also thanked the fans for all their support.
"I feel so grateful. I can't tell you how much fun I'm having and I am so grateful for all the support from the people who are watching the show, there's just so many people embracing the show right now. And I feel, they're amazing. It's fun," she said.
The actress joked about getting dressed up for the evening referring to it as a "buff and shine."
Proving it's not just women who take pride in what they wear to red carpet events model David Gandy shared his pre-event wardrobe nightmare.
"I had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction day where a suit was sent to me, I had made for me. It didn't quite fit well enough, I'm quite strict on what I wear and five minutes beforehand suddenly had to get something out the wardrobe and wear it. So that wasn't most fun, " he said.
The Glamour Women of the Year awards are held annually and honor women in such areas as film, fashion, music and business.
