Fox Corp., Fox News and Dominion Voting Systems reached a settlement on Tuesday in the company's defamation lawsuit against the broadcaster, just before a trial was set to begin on how the network chased viewers over its claims about the 2020 presidential election.
Dominion Voting Systems said the settlement was for $787.5 million. Dominion had asked for $1.6 billion, arguing Fox had damaged its reputation by helping peddle conspiracy theories about its equipment switching votes from former president Donald Trump to Democrat and current President Joe Biden.
As Reggie Cecchini reports, if the trial had gone ahead, the network would have faced an uphill battle — and they still face another legal battle involving another voting company.
