During the Second World War, there were a number of brutal and barbaric German Generals who committed many war crimes inside of the Eastern Front and Soviet lands. One of the most ruthless was Johann-Georg Richert who was known for even executing his own soldiers. He would not tolerate any desertion, and he would organise huge deportations in which thousands were forced out of their homes. Richert was responsible for the deaths of thousands of civilians, but at the end of World War 2 he was captured.
Richert was then brought to the Minsk Trials and he was then sentenced to death for his crimes. Inside of Minsk a large gallows had been set up and alongside a number of other senior German Generals and officers, Richert was executed in front of a crowd of 100,000 people.
