North Korea test-fired two strategic cruise missiles from a submarine in a show of force against the US presence in the region. North Korea's state-run KCNA news agency said the submarine was engaged in underwater drills earlier on March 12. A North Korean submarine reportedly fired the missiles from waters off the eastern coastal city of Sinpo. The missile test came just hours before South Korea and the US were due to kick off their largest joint military drills in years. The US and South Korea have started a 11-day-long massive joint military drills from March 13.
