The South-African mining concern AngloGold Ashanti destroys numerous rivers with its gold mining projects in Ghana. The rivers dry up or die. Severe human rights violations in connection with the project have also been documented. Alleged suspects were tortured in company-owned guard houses before being handed over to the police and dogs set on people—fatalities have occurred as a result.
