I generally say you should collect coins that appeal to you, but if you are looking for a beginner silver Roman coin that wont break the bank, is easy to read, understand and can represent an entrance-point on ancient numismatics, the young Gordian III is the one for you.
Affordable, beautifully made and very easy to research, I think every Roman coin collector should give little Gordian a try!
