Create a 3D Map Clip Using DaVinci Resolve and Blender Addon “Amazing 3D Terrain Creator”

Step 1: Find Your Desired Map
• Open Google Maps and locate the area you want to create as a 3D map. Take a screenshot of the map.

Step 2: Use the Blender Addon to Generate a Height Map
• Open Blender and activate the “Amazing 3D Terrain Creator” addon.
• Use the addon to extract the height map of your selected area.

Step 3: Crop and Align the Images
• Open both the Google Maps screenshot and the height map in Photoshop (or any image editor).
• Crop and align the images so that they match perfectly in scale and position.

Step 4: Create the 3D Clip in DaVinci Resolve
1. Open DaVinci Resolve and Go to the Fusion Tab.
2. Set Up Nodes:
• Add the following nodes:
• Image Plane 3D
• Displace 3D
• Merge 3D
• Camera 3D
• Render 3D
• MediaOut (Output node)
3. Connect the Nodes:
• Connect the Google Maps image to the input of the Image Plane 3D node.
• Connect the output of Image Plane 3D to the input of the Displace 3D node.
• Connect the height map image to the input of the Displace 3D node.
• Connect the output of Displace 3D to the Merge 3D node.
• Connect the Camera 3D node to the Merge 3D node.
• Connect the output of Merge 3D to the Render 3D node.
• Connect the output of Render 3D to the MediaOut node.
4. Adjust Settings:
• Fine-tune the rotation and position of the Camera 3D node.
• Add keyframes to animate the camera movement over time.
5. Render the Final Clip:
• Complete your adjustments and render the 3D map clip.

You’re done! You now have a stunning 3D map animation using Blender and DaVinci Resolve.
