Sumburgh is a small settlement in Southern Shetland. It has an airport which acts as the main Airport of Shetland Islands. However, Sumburgh is mainly famous among travellers due to Sumburgh Head and its colony of Puffins during summer season. This is the biggest puffins colonies that I have experienced till date.
At Sumburgh, there is a prihistoric site as well dated back to 2,500 BC. It is known as Jarlshof. Jarlshof is one of the prominent prihistoric sites of United Kingdom. the artifacts and settlements of various ages like Bronze age, Iron age, Norse, Pictish etc the people from various ages and ethnic groups were found in Jarlshof.
