Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe and chief medical health officer Dr. Saqib Shahab provided an update on Monday on the province's Safe Schools Plan.
Moe announced that the province would be providing $40 million from the COVID-19 contingency fund for additional costs related to ensuring student safety, which will include $10 million for masks and supplies, $10 million for distance learning options, and $20 million for other costs such as staffing and sanitation supplies.
The premier also said that the first day of return to school is delayed one week until Sept. 8 to allow teachers and staff to have more time to prepare. He also announced the province was putting together a plan for testing in schools, with parents' permission.
