An overview of the category Herbs that Clear Heat. This is an introduction for new students of traditional Chinese medicine, or a way to review for board exams, like the California Acupuncture Board Exam (CALE prep) or the NCCAOM herbology exam.
I mis-spoke at 7:08. It should be "heat" instead of "cold" (I think I was saying "heat" and cold" too many times in one sentence). It should be that Shi Gao disperses heat.
The point is that Shi Gao is acrid in flavor (rather than bitter like every other herb in this category), so it does have some ability to disperse heat and even release the exterior and the muscle layer.
