Athens Pride 2007 took place Saturday June 23rd at the city's centre. The event involved gathering at Klafthmonos Square browsing organisations' stands early in the afternoon and a parade from Klafthmonos via Stadiou Street, Vassilissis Amalias Avenue, Syndagma Square [in front of the Greek Parliament], Panepistimiou Avenue, Stadiou again and Klafthmonos. A party followed.
I shot this video with a handheld digital camera and edited it using Adobe Premiere Pro v1.0
Between 4min 52sec and 5min 5sec in this video, I felt constrained to apply a mosaic effect on a sequence showing random people by a bus stop watching the parade. This is because, after hitting the rec off button, first a man and then a woman verbally attacked me, the woman demanding all footage of her erased, while the man even threatened to break my camera into a thousand pieces.
I have been filming and photographing for more than a decade now but this is only the second time anyone ever threatens me so agressively [first time was in 2001 while reporting on an arson case]. I am against any kind of violence, be it physical or verbal, yet I felt I would better not show these people in my video if they so desperately wished so.
