The Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program, chaired this year by Kazakhstan, has focused on enhancing regional connectivity and addressing key challenges like climate change. Established in 1997, CAREC has facilitated over $50 billion in investments across its 11 member countries, emphasizing transport and energy infrastructure. For Kazakhstan, CAREC has provided over $9 billion in support, making it the second-largest recipient. Current priorities include developing transport corridors, addressing climate change through the CAREC Climate Action Plan, and advancing regional cooperation projects like the undersea power and IT cable across the Caspian Sea. Additionally, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) celebrates 30 years of partnership with Kazakhstan, committing over $7 billion to projects ranging from infrastructure to green growth and human development, underscoring its role in Kazakhstan's economic progress and regional integration.
