Which of the Hyundai Creta engine options is right for you? Three things to keep in mind:
First, the diesel will be of interest to those who clock a lot of kilometres. But our recommendation is to stick to the six-speed automatic, as the clutch on the manual will feel tiring in city conditions or over longer drives.
Second, the turbo-petrol is a great all-rounder now. It is smooth for city driving and punchy for highway use. The catch here is that its fuel efficiency is quite poor in stop-go traffic, but it is acceptable on the highway.
Third, our default recommendation for the Creta is the 1.5-litre petrol with the CVT automatic transmission. This combination will be good enough for most of you. It’s smooth to drive in the city and responsive on the highway, too! It's more fuel efficient than the turbo-petrol, and it has enough performance for highway use. And the cabin insulation is great, so you will not feel the CVT annoying.
