Mayim Bialik, the Hollywood star who some remember as Blossom and now plays the loveably geeky neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler on the hit TV comedy "The Big Bang Theory," visited Sarasota County Schools to experience new, innovative ways of learning math and science with local students and teachers in STEMsmart's TechActive Classrooms of Tomorrow.
Bialik earned her Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA and is a strong advocate for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education. As the brand ambassador for Texas Instruments (TI), she visits schools and events around the nation to inspire teachers and encourage all students to pursue STEM education and careers.
Bialik is excited to experience a new way of learning math and science and innovative uses of classroom technology during her visit to Sarasota Middle School, where she will interact with students, teachers, administrators and parents.
Gulf Coast Community Foundation's STEMsmart TechActive Classrooms of Tomorrow have been successfully implemented in many schools across Sarasota and Charlotte Counties featuring TI-NspireTM math and science learning solutions, which integrate technology, curriculum, hands- on professional development and teacher coaching to create an interactive learning environment that improves student achievement in these critical subjects.
