In this talk, titled "What the Heck Is That? Using a Picture to Launch a Thousand Words," past Distinguished Teaching Award recipient Eileen Lacey (Integrative Biology) demonstrates that "a well-timed, provocative image" can not only (re)capture student attention during a lengthy class period, but also stimulate discussion and engage them in the subject matter. This presentation was recorded May 4, 2017 in the Academic Innovation Studio at UC Berkeley as part of the Showcase for Teaching Innovation and Reinvention hosted by the Center for Teaching and Learning and Educational Technology Services.
