Colorado forests have become overly dense in many areas due to fire suppression dating back to the early 1900s. Overly dense forests are more prone to catastrophic wildfires. To make the forests more resistant to large fires and widespread insect infestations, Denver Water partners with the U.S. Forest Service, the Colorado State Forest Service and the Natural Resources Conservation Service to restore forests to a healthier state.
