Western powers have issued a joint statement on August 12 warning Iran and its allies to refrain from attacks that would further escalates regional tensions in the Middle East. France, Germany, and the United kingdom are concerned that Iran and its proxy militant group Hezbollah could attack Israel within the next 24 hours. The attack would be a retaliation for the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and top Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut.
