Let's regain our upper deck for the finale and keep things going now with
VW1243 was new in 2012 as part of an order of Wright bodied Volvo B9TLs new to Holloway (HT) garage for their re-takeover of the key Central London route 24, these were displaced in the space of a few months by Volvo B5LH Hybrids, then by the first big batch of LT-class New Routemasters. VW1243 was then re-directed to the 43 which helped push out elderly Euro 2 TP-class Tridents. VW1243 then went to Brentford (AH) garage for a bit, then went to Harrow Weald (HD) on the 140, then settled on the 83, originally at Alperton (ON) then Perivale West (PV) when Alperton garage closed down.
Route 83 is a long-standing route in West London, dating from 1934, the section from Golders Green to Ealing Broadway being the core of the route, and at varying points in its history reaches Hayes, Southall, Brentford & Heathrow Airport. De-regulation in 1988 saw it settle with a terminus at Ealing Hospital and was run by Centrewest, later First with Metroline taking over in 2013 when First pulled out of London. The current routing following a cut in 2016 is from Golders Green Bus Station to Alperton Station via Hendon Central, West Hendon, Kingsbury Green, Blackbird Cross, Wembley Park & Wembley Central.
VW1243 is powered by a Euro 6 Volvo D9B engine coupled to a Voith DIWA automatic gearbox, so hope you enjoy.
Start: West Hendon Broadway/ Herbert Road
