Rinjani Dayhike - 100km, 9150m EG (more than climbing Everest from sea level)
My toughest hike so far. Apart from the video story, I had two weeks (14 days) to taper off (weekly mileage reduces from 100km to 40km), continue to eat normally and one session of 1km hard push.
2 days before start, went up Pergasingan at very low intensity (no sweat), ate plenty, and slept more. Last heavy meal 6 hours before the hike and had a snicker and coconut juice 2 hours before the hike.
Started out slow for 3km, went out faster and overtaking for the next 12km to avoid jam then chill pace the whole way through. Was surprised to do a 2 hours hike from Sembalun camp to Rinjani peak!
The best part of the hike is 60% of the trail there are many people hiking and camping even till 12am, which at least brightens up the trail... But the last 80km thankfully had company as that stretch rarely has any hiker...
Trail technicality wasn't an issue for me (the ladder after Anak Dara did surprise me for a while) as most of it reminds me of G7 mountain or Tabur scrambling. Though most of the tougher trail is after Anak Dara peak, anything before that is considered mild, the 60km is much more friendlier!
Very doable trail event but one must really endure the mental strain it dishes out. Trans-Titiwangsa V2 dayhike maybe the best training session for this. Good navigation skill is a major plus as some trail are sketchy.
Praise Jesus for everything that falls into the right place that weekend! Even with the wrong jacket, I still manage to grind through that cold night, thank God for the fire at each of the CP!
I still remember how anxious I was at the starting line for the COT. It's been a while since I was so scared of cut-off time... Crossing the line with only a few hours left was the greatest relief!
Thank you @rinjani100.official for really one of the best organized events! Marking was good and the crew were very friendly at every CP! Definitely my most memorable 100km!
I really want to say I had enough but...
