The European Commission is preparing an emergency gas reduction plan as Russian energy giant, Gazprom, continues to reduce supplies to EU countries. EU nations say they want to cut their energy dependence on Russia, and buy from suppliers seen as more cooperative and reliable.

Leaders of all 27 EU countries discussed the future of the continent's energy mix at a summit in Brussels, where SABC News Correspondent, Rosie Birchard, has been following developments.
