Customs have seized 172 kilos of cocaine in the sea chest compartment of a bulk carrier taking bunkers in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters.

After investigations and further searches, the vessel the 'BBG Journey', flying under the flag of Hong Kong, was released.

Customs says there is no reason to believe the drugs would have been brought into Gibraltar.

Investigations continue.
